Cologne, 06 August 2025: chargecloud GmbH, a leading provider of e-mobility software, has joined the EVRoaming Foundation as a full contributor. The foundation, based in the Netherlands, aims to promote interoperability between providers through open interfaces and transparency. By joining, chargecloud is underlining its commitment to open roaming standards in the European market.
The EVRoaming Foundation is the supporting organization behind the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI), an open and independent communication protocol for the direct exchange of data between charging infrastructure operators (CPOs) and e-mobility providers (EMPs). OCPI enables bilateral roaming as well as connections via hubs and creates technical and commercial flexibility. Through its platform, chargecloud already enables seamless access to charging points across Europe.

Promoting open protocols for tomorrow's mobility
By joining the EVRoaming Foundation, chargecloud will further deepen its expertise in the areas of interoperability and protocol integration in exchange with the members of the Foundation. In addition, the SaaS provider will actively participate in the further development of the protocol and contribute to the EVRoaming Foundation's working groups.

"Our goal is to provide our partners with better access to international markets and EV drivers with a seamless charging experience throughout Europe – open, interoperable, and future-proof. As a provider of scalable e-mobility software solutions, we therefore see it as our responsibility not only to use existing standards, but also to actively shape their development,“ says Markus Bach, CEO of chargecloud GmbH. ”Joining the EVRoaming Foundation is a logical and important step for us in strengthening interoperability in the European market in the long term, and we are very pleased to now be part of the EVRF."

Working together for a transparent and connected charging infrastructure
The EVRoaming Foundation welcomes chargecloud as a new full contributor and considers its accession a sign of the growing relevance of open standards in the industry.
“With chargecloud, the EVRoaming Foundation is gaining a company with in-depth, long-standing market knowledge, a strong technological background, and a focus on practical solutions. We are very happy that important market players like chargecloud not only use OCPI but also join us to actively participate in the OCPI development and other EVRoaming Foundation activities,” says Michel Bayings, Managing Director of the EVRoaming Foundation. “We look forward to the joint dialogue and to further developing OCPI together.”
