chargecloud Acquires elvah Product Line and Expands Offering to Include Market Intelligence and Smart Pricing
With the acquisition of the elvah Hub and the elvah Charging Market Report, chargecloud is expanding its EV charging solution into a data-driven pricing platform.
This press release has:
CPOs and consulting firms will now receive competitive analysis, price optimization, and billing all from a single source.
Cologne, July 22, 2026: chargecloud GmbH has acquired part of the product line from data specialist elvah. This includes the elvah Hub, a platform for market intelligence and data-driven price optimization, as well as the elvah Charging Market Report, one of the most widely used market analyses in the European charging infrastructure market for e-mobility. The products are being gradually integrated into the chargecloud offering as Market Intelligence Services. This creates an end-to-end solution for charge point operators (CPOs): understanding the market, optimizing prices against the competition, and settling transactions – without third-party providers, all from a single system.
The data source the industry trusts
Over the past few years, elvah has established itself as a key data provider for the European charging market. The foundation: real-time data from approximately 1.2 million charging points (EVSE IDs), which is used to calculate utilization metrics, competitive pricing, and regional market trends. Many of the major market players, such as energy providers, consulting firms, and CPOs, use this data as the basis for strategic decisions.
The elvah Charging Market Report provides a structured overview twice a year of the competitive landscape and price trends in Germany and other European markets. chargecloud will continue to publish the popular Charging Market Report under its own brand. The first edition under the chargecloud brand will be published later this year.
“Analyze”: Competitive and Market Intelligence
The first module of the elvah Hub, “Analyze,” will be available starting in Q4 2026 both as a standalone product and as part of the chargecloud OS. It provides CPOs with a detailed benchmark of the local and regional charging market: What is the utilization rate in the immediate vicinity of my charging stations? To what extent does the reliability of a charging point affect utilization? What are the current prices? Which locations show signs of saturation, and where is untapped demand?
The solution uses real-time data, features its own user interface, and is also accessible via API – for CPOs who want to integrate market data directly into their own systems.
Existing elvah customers will receive new contracts during the integration process to ensure a seamless transition.
Smart Pricing Engine Brings Dynamic Pricing Directly to the chargecloud OS
One of the key questions for CPOs is: What price is both attractive to electric vehicle drivers and economically viable for the operator? The goal is always to maximize utilization of the charging stations.
The chargecloud OS already offers one of the most comprehensive and reliable billing functions on the market. With the integration of the second module from the elvah platform, “Optimize,” it will also provide the answer to the pricing question in the future: The Smart Pricing Engine will then derive specific pricing recommendations based on real-time market data, utilization patterns, and the local competitive landscape—location-specific, data-driven, and simulatable. In the first half of 2027, chargecloud will expand its billing engine to include a dynamic pricing API. “Optimize” will be integrated as the Smart Pricing Engine and will thus be available to chargecloud customers next year as part of the chargecloud OS. The solution stands out because price optimization is not based on the exchange electricity price, but rather uses local competitive data for the location as well as utilization rates in the immediate vicinity.
Starting in the second half of 2027, the third elvah module “Distribute” will complement the solution with real-time price distribution: CPOs will then be able to deliver optimized prices directly to end customers and EMPs via a white-label solution and SDK (Software Development Kit) - without having to use roaming structures.
Once all three modules are fully integrated, the chargecloud OS will provide an end-to-end solution for the entire pricing cycle: CPOs will understand the market, derive optimized prices from that understanding, deliver them directly to end customers, and settle the transaction within the same system. A comparable combination of market intelligence, price optimization, and billing from a single system is currently unavailable on the European market.
“I am very excited about this milestone for chargecloud. Over the years, elvah has built up a database and in-depth expertise that a large part of the industry relies on,” says Markus Bach, CEO & CTO of chargecloud GmbH, commenting on the deal. “Integrating this intelligence into our chargecloud OS now and building a true smart pricing engine from it is exactly what CPOs need: not only reliable billing, but also a valid data foundation for pricing.”
Oliver Adrian, COO & CRO of chargecloud GmbH, adds: “Integrating the elvah modules into our offering represents a logical and strategically consistent expansion. CPOs who want to remain competitive in the market over the long term are under increasing pressure to operate their charging infrastructure cost-effectively. To do so, they need not only a reliable billing system but also market transparency. Anyone looking to make informed decisions in the charging market will find the data foundation for doing so with us in the future.”
First Product Acquisition in the Company’s History
The acquisition of the elvah product line marks the first product acquisition in chargecloud’s ten-year history. The Cologne-based company, founded in 2016, has built its portfolio organically to date. “Organic growth remains our foundation. With this targeted acquisition as part of a buy-and-build strategy, we are further accelerating our growth and selectively expanding our product portfolio to drive measurable progress for our customers,” says Dr. Marius Mölders, CFO of chargecloud GmbH, explaining the transaction.
With this move, chargecloud is strategically expanding its product strategy to include a dimension that is becoming increasingly crucial for the economic professionalization of the charging infrastructure market: data-driven market intelligence as an integrated component of the operating system.
